Our Halloween on the block was a lot of fun, thank you so much to everybody for getting involved. It's great to see so many neighbors get together and do something fun for the kids. And the nice weather doesn't hurt!
Big thanks go out to everybody, but especially these fine folks, I hope I got all the names right and didn't leave anybody out!

The Logan Square parade at the monument is at 5pm.
Wear your costumes!
Dogs in costume are also welcome!
We were also just made aware of another Halloween event in Avondale. Please RSVP if you plan to join in the Halloween Parade and Spooktacular in Avondale. See the flyer below for more details.
Last year we were so happy that people brought food to share and cooked food
in their front yards, in the parkway and in the street.
This is a potluck event and we encourage everybody to bring food.
We will have grills out in the street again with
tables and chairs and shade tents.
This year we plan to provide hot dogs, buns and grilled corn on the cob.
We also plan to provide some basic non-alcoholic beverages for everybody like sodas, seltzers and water.
Please meet the rest of the neighborhood clean uppers in the Logandale School parking lot at 12pm.
The 35th Ward Alderman's Office will support our efforts by providing some of the things needed to clean up the streets and sidewalks and parkways, such as bags and pet waste signs and grabbers!
DANCE PARTY on Sat.,
May 25, 7:00 – 10:00
At 2829 N Sawyer (the
home of Bill Bein and Susan Slogoff)
This is a WHOLE FAMILY EVENT and FREE. There will be a DJ out on the back porch with dancing on the lawn (and with tents set up in the event of bad weather), and, on the inside, the whole 1st floor will be open for visiting, eating, and drinking.
It is a FREE EVENT but we ask that you not come empty-handed:
1. Please bring both some food (appetizer or dessert) and a beverage to share.
2. If you have kids, ask them to bring a toy or game they can play with other kids.
3. And please plan to toss some money in the hat
for the DJ.
That’s right – we now have our own website! And, based on the success of both our summer block party AND last fall’s Halloween festivities, we now want to do regular block party events.
At 7 pm on Friday, December 22, we shall meet at the home of Bill Bein and Susan Sawyer (the blue house at 2829) for some hot spiced cider. Then, after we tour the block singing Christmas carols, we end in the back yard of Edgardo Torres (2847 Sawyer). We are invited to improvise our very own 2800 block Xmas celebration and take the “parranda” in the back yard of Edgardo Torres (2847 Sawyer) for flavors of a Puerto Rican holiday. Like a popular song says bring me the “coquito, the rice con gandules, the pasteles and the pork”.
Huge Santa hat prop for pictures!
Feel free to BYOB and party this holiday season.
PLEASE INVITE ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES! WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A LARGE GROUP EVENT.
Neighbors came out on Saturday November 4th to the home of Bill and Suzy for music and snacks and socializing. Nora Bingham provided some live entertainment!
On Sunday morning November 5th, two groups of kids and parents trick-or-treated on our block, a few of the houses signed up to be designated stops to hand out treats and see the great costumes.
Unfortunately we do not have any pictures from this weekend to post yet. If you have any that you can share with everybody please let Barry, Bill or Edgardo know, so that the pictures can be uploaded. Thanks!
Thank you to everybody that came out and had fun! We had a bounce house, the CFD brought a fire truck, we had a DJ and a dance workshop, Anibel and his ice cream truck, Dante's Pizza, the kids decorated rocks and we left them all over the block, and we had lots of drinks and food.
If you would like to have any pictures added or removed from this gallery please let Barry know and he can take care of that.
This site is how we, as neighbors on the 2800 block of N Sawyer, connect with each other and stay informed. We will keep it updated with upcoming and past block parties and also recommended service providers.
